Vučić Stated That the World Stands on the Threshold of a Much Larger War
The President of Serbia also stated that he does not expect the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war neither by the end of 2026, nor by spring 2027.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he considers the current situation the beginning of a larger war. He said this in a podcast by Axel Springer media CEO Mathias Döpfner, published on August 9, as reported by the "Dozhd" TV channel.
«If you ask what I personally think — and I won't explain why I think so — then, in my opinion, we are at the beginning of a larger war. I hoped that by this point someone would take steps to achieve peace. That has not happened, and it will not happen anytime soon. This means we are on the threshold of a much, much larger war,» Vučić said.
During the conversation, Vučić also stated that he does not expect the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war neither by the end of 2026, nor by spring 2027. He explained this by saying that the parties are in a stalemate, and a compromise, in his opinion, will only be possible after one side gains a clear advantage.
Vučić also expressed the opinion that Vladimir Putin seeks to establish control over the entire Donbas and after that may be ready to end the war.
The President of Serbia urged the US and European countries to pursue negotiations and a ceasefire, instead of waiting for the exhaustion of Russian forces. «Nobody wants peace. Everyone wants the defeat of the other side», he stated, adding that the outcome of the war should be a compromise, not the defeat of one side.
