Where will it be best visible in Belarus?
NASA published a map of the solar eclipse that will occur on August 12. The full phase will be visible in a narrow band passing through northern Russia, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, Spain, and a small part of Portugal.
Since Belarus is outside this band, residents of the country will only see a partial phase. In different parts of Belarus, the eclipse will look different. The further west an observer is located, the larger the portion of the solar disk the Moon will cover.
According to Timeanddate.com — an international online service that publishes data on time, time zones, and astronomical phenomena, including eclipse calculations and maps — in Minsk, Grodno, and Borisov, about 68% of the solar disk's area will be obscured.
In Minsk, the eclipse will begin at approximately 20:10, and the maximum phase will occur around 20:42. By this time, the Sun will already be low above the horizon.
Therefore, for observation, it is best to choose a location from which the western part of the horizon is clearly visible and the view is not obstructed by houses, trees, or other obstacles.
