The share of Chinese car brands sold on the European market reached a record 10.9% in June — sales grew by 118% to 150,272 units. The growth was mainly driven by plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and full hybrids, which are not subject to additional EU duties on electric vehicles, reports the ECG association.

Leaders among Chinese brands:
- SAIC (MG) — 38,640 sales (+52%);
- BYD — 38,300 (+146%);
- Chery Group — 35,228 (+262%);
- Leapmotor — 12,714 (+566%);
- Geely Group — 11,873 (+44%).
The full hybrid segment grew by 246%, and plug-in hybrids by 213%.
Battery electric vehicles accounted for 35% of Chinese brand sales, and plug-in hybrids for 31%, while a year ago these figures were 38% and 22% respectively.
Since the beginning of the year, MG has held the lead, followed by BYD and Chery. Overall, Chinese brands increased sales in Europe by 101% to 685,990 cars, raising their market share from 5% to 9.5% in a year.
