Yana Pinchuk sent to 15 days in punishment cell after conversation with Artur Gaiko in colony
The head of a GUBOPIK department visited the colony and summoned some political prisoners for conversations.
Political prisoner Yana Pinchuk, sentenced to 12 years, was sent to a punishment cell (SHIZA) for 15 days in early September after a conversation with a GUBOPiK officer, a "Mediazona" source reported.
At the end of August, Artur Gaiko, head of a GUBOPiK department, visited the Gomel women's colony and summoned some political prisoners for conversations.
Among them was political prisoner Yana Pinchuk, against whom reports began to be written a week after her conversation with Gaiko – as a result, she was deprived of a meeting, and soon sent to a punishment cell.
"The colony itself would not have initiated these reports; GUBOPiK does it. On September 1, she was given 15 days in a punishment cell, and Yana has asthma. And at some point, she was not in the colony. There is a possibility that she was in the hospital," a "Mediazona" source said.
Yana Pinchuk was detained in St. Petersburg on November 1, 2021, where she lived, and in August 2022, she was extradited to Belarus, despite the UN Human Rights Committee's ban on extradition.
On June 6, 2023, the political prisoner was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony under articles concerning participation in an "extremist formation" (Part 1 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code), actions against national security (Part 3 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code), incitement to hatred (Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code), mass riots (Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code), and creation of a "terrorist organization" or participation in it (Part 1 of Article 290-4 of the Criminal Code). She administrated three protest Telegram channels.
Artur Gaiko is a GUBOPiK officer connected to the scandal around the "Black Book of Belarus" project. It was revealed that from October 2020 to July 2021, he infiltrated the project and worked there undercover for about nine months.
