Jasmine from Odessa decided to create a brand of headscarves for Muslim women in Belarus. And received a wave of hatred.

Jasmine Takha shared her idea on Threads. The Muslim girl wrote that she had moved from Odessa to Minsk three months ago and is now planning to develop her business. Jasmine is interested in fashion, so she wants to create a brand of headwear for Muslim women in Belarus. She ended the post with the phrase: "«Всем Ассаляму алейкум»" [which means "Peace be upon you all"]. And then it began.

The post has already gathered nearly two thousand comments. And many of them are aggressive. Most often, the girl was advised in a rude manner to go to Muslim countries — primarily to Afghanistan.

«When bringing Muslim headwear to us, don't forget that Belarus is the homeland of the Jews,» wrote one commentator, gaining 2400 likes.

«They've reached Belarus with their rags, but this story won't work here, this is a civilized modern society,» another person exclaimed, receiving 1300 likes in support of their opinion.

Comments also reminded that Tatars, who are also Muslims, looked different in Belarus.

Another woman noted that «Belarus may be hospitable, but not blind, and sees perfectly well what Muslims are doing in the EU,» — 1200 people agreed with her.

Another demands not to touch Belarus: «We have Orthodox and Catholics. But these are people who are more than adequate. Moreover, we do not lose our common sense and live with God in our souls, not for show. I will be the first to stand against you! I am a native Belarusian and it is my right not to give my country to you! March to Islamic countries!»

«Tell me the store address later, I'll try to open a shop next to you with pork on the shelves.»

«Suitcase, train station, Afghanistan.»

Some did not hold back and called women in hijabs "wrapped-up ones."

Even Belarusian designer Olga Novik, the creator of the Ton-in-ton brand, came to the comments: «We are not a Muslim country. There is no need to impose Islam here. If you want to be a designer, if you want to be Belarusian — we are not against it. We welcome everyone, regardless of ethnic origin. Belarusians are tolerant. However, respect and develop our culture, our traditions, and our fashion as Belarusian fashion.»

But many defended the girl in the comments and wrote that they were shocked by such intolerance of Belarusians.

«And they say Belarusians are a kind nation, I read the comments and I am shocked by the aggression,» wrote one of the women. «I am Belarusian. I am against racial and national hatred.

Each of us has our own fears and boundaries, I also don’t always feel safe around men from some cultures. But this is not a reason to pour all this anxiety on a particular girl. She does not impose her culture on anyone, she is just trying to work. Her business may not become popular with us, and that's okay. What is happening in the comments is not normal.»

Jasmine herself tries not to lose optimism. She wrote that she was always thinking about how to attract the attention of new subscribers, Belarusian Muslim women — she was inventing scenarios for reels, how best to shoot, where to put the light...

But one post on Threads helped her become a Minsk celebrity.

Ох уж эти беларусы: с одной стороны радует что семитские корни не забываются, а с другой - согласие с ордынской символикой эрэфии, разве чем то отличается от муслимской Афганистана?
