Belarus bans sale of 'tsubli'

In Belarus, the sale of souvenir banknotes that too closely resemble real Belarusian money has been banned, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office reports .

The Prosecutor's Office of the Leninsky District of Minsk uncovered instances where people used such souvenir banknotes with denominations of 10 and 20 'tsubli' to pay for goods in stores. As a result, retail outlets incurred financial losses.

The problem was discovered during the examination of materials from petty theft cases. It turned out that the external design of the souvenir banknotes was very similar to real Belarusian money.

During the inspection, it was established that the images were printed on both sides of the paper bills, and their sizes matched the sizes of real banknotes. This contradicts the requirements of Belarusian legislation.

In addition, offers for the sale of such souvenir items were found online. The Prosecutor's Office issued an order to the owner of one of the online platforms to cease their sale. Following this, the illegal advertisements were removed.
