Two Gomel Residents Tortured Acquaintance with Hot Iron for 18 Hours
In April, two young men, under the influence of alcohol, came to their acquaintance's home and demanded money.
When he refused, they used violence: they beat the owner with their hands and feet, delivering blows to his head and chest. Then they took turns applying a hot iron to his face and exposed body parts.
The torture lasted for about 18 hours. As a result, they took about 600 rubles.
The examination established that the thermal burns caused severe bodily harm, characterized by irreparable disfigurement of the face and neck.
After reviewing the materials, the Gomel prosecutor deemed the charges substantiated and agreed with the qualification under Part 3 of Art. 207 of the Criminal Code (robbery committed with infliction of grievous bodily harm), which is punishable by imprisonment from 8 to 15 years.
