"I've never seen this before." A resident of Minsk was surprised by the absence of ordinary price tags in a Euroopt store

"What's happening in Euroopt? I've never seen this before. I don't know what this is called or if it's even allowed. In general, these products for March 8th don't have a price tag, but there's this kind of receipt," says the author of the video published on TikTok.

The woman suggested that the preliminary price on the pre-receipt might change at the checkout, "considering it says here that the final cost is determined at the checkout."

According to her, the same situation occurred with flowers in the store, where bouquets had a preliminary price indicated.

The video caused a flurry of comments. Some suggested that the absence of receipts was not the most honest approach. Others sided with the store.

"In retail, this is called a deferred receipt. Everything is legal, it hasn't been rung up or paid for yet," wrote one commenter.

Another recalled that there's nothing unusual about this situation: "This has been happening in Minsk for a long time. The point is that at the time of assembly, the price tag on the product is like this. However, after two days, some product might become cheaper or more expensive. They're not going to run around recalculating everything ten times. It's an excellent option – you know the approximate price. The difference will be insignificant, plus or minus."

"This is a receipt from a self-service checkout when you click 'Cash payment,' and it's most likely preliminary because if you present a discount card, the amount might change when bonuses are redeemed, if available," suggested another reader.

There were also those who called on the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MARG) to address this situation and comment on how legal the practice of lacking price tags and replacing them with such preliminary receipts is.

In response, however, someone was indignant that such a stir was caused by some receipts: "Our people are impossible to please... People don't understand that the price can change in a day: more expensive in the morning, cheaper after lunch. This is a computerized system in retail!!! Isn't it clear... You will be rung up the correct price at the moment you buy... And as for inspections — MARG or other auditing bodies — there are enough of them already. No enterprise is checked as often and thoroughly as stores."
