Lithuanian President signed law on strengthening punishments for smugglers
On Monday, Gitanas Nausėda signed amendments to the Criminal Code and the Law on Criminal Intelligence, which provide for increased penalties for individuals transporting contraband in a dangerous manner, Delfi.lt reports, citing the president's press service.

The amendments stipulate that if contraband poses a real threat to human life, health, or the activities of an enterprise critical to national security, such an act will be considered a serious crime. Until now, such actions only entailed administrative responsibility.
The President noted that the new legal regulation is aimed at preventing a hybrid attack carried out from the territory of Belarus using balloons with contraband.
