During talks in Berlin, US representatives again demanded that Ukraine relinquish the entire Donbas. This was reported by The Guardian.

According to a source from the publication, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner insisted that Russia wants to obtain this region, and Washington demands Kyiv retreat. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to withdraw Ukrainian troops from the part of Donbas that Russia has not yet managed to capture.
The negotiations lasted more than five hours. As Bloomberg reports, Zelenskyy repeatedly rejected American demands and insisted on a ceasefire along the current front line.
According to estimates from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia controls almost all of Luhansk Oblast and about 80% of Donetsk Oblast, which are part of Donbas. At the same time, the majority of Ukrainians — about 75% — oppose handing over Donbas, as evidenced by a poll from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
