The Minsk District Court handed down a harsh sentence for illegal drug trafficking, which resulted in the death of four people. Six people were in the dock, including a married couple from Minsk who served as drug couriers and stash placers.
According to the prosecutor's office, a 43-year-old woman and her 48-year-old husband had been working since July 2023 for two online stores selling psychotropics. During their arrest and searches, approximately 1.8 kg of dangerous substances were confiscated from them, including mephedrone, hashish, methadone, and alpha-PVP.
Four people died from the methadone they distributed.
The couple's total criminal income exceeded 262 thousand rubles.
The court handed down severe sentences. The woman received 23 years and 6 months of imprisonment, and her husband 24 years and 1 month of imprisonment (taking into account an article for driving under the influence). They also received fines of 29.4 thousand rubles (700 basic units) each, as well as the confiscation of all criminal proceeds to the state.
Four more defendants in the case — residents of Minsk and the region — were convicted under Part 1 of Art. 328 of the Criminal Code (acquisition and storage without intent to sell). They used the services of the same store and picked up the 'stashes' made by the couple. Two of them received actual prison sentences (2.5 and 4 years), while two others received 3 years of restricted freedom at home.
