Belarus is among the coldest countries in the world by average annual temperature. According to data from the World Bank and the Climatic Research Unit for 1991-2020, the average temperature in the country is 7.45°C, writes Thinktanks.pro.

In the global ranking, Belarus takes 212th place out of 234 countries and territories, making it one of the coldest not only in Europe but also in the world overall.

- Poland — 206th place (8.78°C);
- Lithuania — 214th place (7.38°C);
- Latvia — 217th place (6.87°C);
- Russia — 231st place (-3.79°C)
The hottest country in the world is Burkina Faso with an average temperature of 30.40°C. The top five also include Mali (29.21°C), Aruba (29.17°C), Senegal (28.90°C), and Mauritania (28.82°C). Most of the hottest countries are concentrated in Africa, as well as in other tropical regions and the Middle East.

The coldest countries in the world are located in northern latitudes. The coldest country is Greenland with a temperature of —18.7°C, followed by the Arctic territories of Norway (—6.78°C) and Canada (—4.03).
