Poland Stripped of European Championship for Refusing Visas to Belarusians and Russians
The European Weightlifting Federation (EWF) has decided to strip Poland of its right to host the European Junior and U23 Championships, which was scheduled for 2026.

As reported on the federation's official website, the reason for this decision was the Polish side's unwillingness to guarantee the issuance of visas for participants from Belarus and Russia. The absence of these guarantees was the key factor for the cancellation of the tournament in Poland.
Initially, the tournament was planned to be held in September in Lublin, Poland.
As a result, the competitions were moved to Albania. The new date for the championship will be October, and participants will be able to compete without the visa restrictions that arose in Poland.
