Minsk customs officers found and confiscated a combat saber that was illegally imported into Belarus. It was hidden among a batch of textiles and auto parts. An examination confirmed that the blade is indeed a cold weapon, the press service of the Belarusian Customs Authorities reports .
The Kazakh carrier did not declare the saber in the declaration for the mixed cargo shipment, which included textiles, auto parts, and electrical appliances. To determine if a special license was required for import, the saber was sent for examination.
The customs laboratory confirmed that the blade was manufactured industrially and is classified as a chopping-cutting and stabbing-cutting cold weapon.
The Minsk Regional Customs initiated administrative proceedings in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses, and the saber was confiscated pending a court decision.
