This may lead to accidents, Minsk traffic police warn.

The main factors causing road accidents during fog are insufficient visibility and distorted perception of distance to vehicles and obstacles.
The traffic police advise all road users to be attentive and strictly adhere to the Rules of the Road. Pedestrians should also not forget about reflective elements.
Drivers are advised to:
- — choose a speed based on visibility,
- — maintain an increased distance to the vehicle in front;
- — turn on dipped headlights, and fog lights if necessary.
- — high beams are useless in fog and worsen visibility;
- — avoid sudden lane changes and braking, drive carefully;
- — if movement is impossible, stop outside the carriageway and turn on hazard warning lights;
- — be especially careful near pedestrian crossings, as pedestrians become less visible.
Prevention for pedestrians:
— cross the road only in designated areas, making sure it is safe to enter the carriageway;
— be sure to use reflective elements (flashing lights), vests, or accessories to be visible in conditions of limited visibility;
— be very attentive and careful, do not get glued to smartphones;
— before crossing the road, take off headphones and lower hoods to hear and see traffic.
The traffic police of the Minsk region, in turn, report a difficult road situation in the region.
The situation is largely complicated on the M-1 highway in the Smolevichi district, where several road accidents have been recorded at km 374-375 in the direction of Borisov.
