Kupala Theater actress admitted that the theater never recovered after 2020
Actress Tamara Mironava, who remained at the Kupala Theater after the mass dismissals in 2020, openly spoke about the chronic problems of the collective in an interview with "SB". According to her, the theater still cannot recover from its losses and suffers from two major "failures".

The first problem, according to the actress, is an acute shortage of middle-generation actors. Mironava says that there is almost no one in the troupe to play roles in the "50+" category. This jeopardizes productions of classical works, where most of the key characters should be of that age.
— Has the Kupala Theater recovered today from all the upheavals? — the correspondent asks the actress.
— Yes. But we have a gap in the middle generation of actors. We cannot stage classics, where everything is written for this age — 50+.
The second woe is a directorial famine.
— Performances at the Kupala Theater are staged by Russian directors — Dmitry Akimov has already staged two performances, Igor Malov… — says the correspondent.
— We have a severe shortage of directors. Our artistic director Volha Niafedava has been nagging everyone: give us a chief director. They can't find one.
After the mass dismissal of Kupalawtsy in 2020 in protest against violence and falsifications after the presidential elections, the theater found itself on the verge of closure. To somehow fill the void, the administration invited actors from Russia who did not even know the Belarusian language, and in 2025 began borrowing staff from other Belarusian theaters. Mironava's confessions imply that a true revival of the Kupala Theater has not happened in five years.
