New problem: Belarusian cucumbers in stores are passed off as Russian to set a higher price
In Minsk, trade unions conducted an inspection of stores and drew attention to the price of cucumbers, which were sold for 9.99 rubles. During the raid, it was found that in one of the retail outlets, cucumbers were marked as Russian, which allowed a higher price to be set for them. However, the packaging indicated that the producer was a Belarusian enterprise from the Vitebsk region.

Trade unions noted that fresh cucumbers in Belarus are included in the list of goods with state price regulation. According to current rules, their price cannot increase by more than 0.3% per month. Therefore, they say, the "normal" price should be around 7 rubles. However, the regulation applies specifically to fresh produce of Belarusian origin.

After the inspectors' remark, in the same store, two hours later, cucumbers were already being sold for 7.88 rubles. Information about the violation was recorded on video and is planned to be submitted to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

According to statistics, last year Belarus became one of the main suppliers of fresh cucumbers to Russia. At the same time, the Belarusian government notes that due to active exports, a shortage of fresh vegetables sometimes occurs in certain regions of the country.
