During a night attack by Ukrainian drones, the newest Russian icebreaker was damaged in the port of Vyborg
During a night attack by Ukrainian drones in Vyborg, a patrol icebreaker under construction for the Coast Guard of the FSB Border Service was damaged. This is likely the first case where a Ukrainian drone damaged a Russian military ship in the waters of the Baltic Sea, writes "Agentstvo".

The governor of the Leningrad region wrote in the morning that the night attack by Ukrainian UAVs affected Vyborg. In addition to Vyborg, the port of Ust-Luga, where a fire occurred, was also hit.
Ukrainian military channels published a photo of a tilted military ship on the territory of the Vyborg Shipyard. The Supernova+ channel wrote that "one of the ships was damaged as a result of a UAV attack." The Exilenova+ channel clarified that the photo likely captured the patrol icebreaker "Purga" of project 23550.
The hit on the military ship in Vyborg was also acknowledged by Z-channels. "Footage of the hits is already being circulated by Ukrainian channels, where the strike on the icebreaker in Vyborg is noted," wrote the "Archangel of Spetsnaz" channel (the publication was reposted by the "Two Majors" channel). The "Notes of Midshipman Ptichkin" channel, which specializes in the navy, wrote:
"Ust-Luga, Primorsk, Kronstadt, now Vyborg. The largest ports of the Baltic, hydrocarbon exports, fleet facilities, now military shipbuilding."
At the same time, the post emphasizes that "given the absence of traces of explosion or fire, it could be sabotage."
Z-blogger Vladimir Romanov wrote that "a patrol icebreaker of project 23550 was attacked," but not "Purga," as Ukrainian channels wrote, but "Dzerzhinsky."
The icebreaker "Dzerzhinsky" was laid down at the Vyborg Shipyard in December 2023. It is to become the fourth ship built under project 23550. The first two were ordered by the Navy at the "Admiralteyskiye Verfi" in May 2016, and the second pair of icebreakers was ordered by the Coast Guard of the FSB Border Service in July 2020. In 2025, the first ship of project 23550, "Ivan Papanin," was delivered.
Ukraine has already attacked military ships of the Russian Navy in the Baltic, but not with drones. In spring 2024, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine published a video of an arson attack on the missile boat "Serpukhov" in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region. In the autumn of the same year, an act of sabotage was committed on the minesweeper "Alexander Obukhov" in Baltiysk.
