It was for his blogging activities that in late 2021, Belarusian authorities sentenced Eduard Palchys to 13 years in a penal colony.

“You can’t even be left alone for 5 years,” Palchys joked and congratulated everyone on Freedom Day.

Eduard also thanked everyone who helped his family during these 5 years.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Lord for showing me the best people of the nation during this time. And the worst ones too.
I will have to say "Thank you" to many people for a very long time. To some, for the rest of my life.
But many of ours are still there. And the moment of liberation was not 100% joyful,” he wrote on the former Twitter, now network X.
Blogger Eduard Palchys had been behind bars since September 2020. The court, which took place in late 2021, sentenced him to 13 years in a penal colony.
While Eduard was imprisoned, his daughter was born.
He was released on March 19 after U.S. Special Envoy John Cole's visit to Belarus. Among 15 political prisoners, Palchys was deported from the country.
