Dzhabrailov was one of the most authoritative Chechens in Russian public life.
In 2000, he even ran for president of Russia. At various times, he had affairs with Naomi Campbell and Ksenia Sobchak, and he was mentioned in Epstein's lists.
The ex-senator corresponded with financier Ghislaine Maxwell's assistant and discussed meetings with her. In leaked files, a photo of Dzhabrailov was found — in it, the businessman was practicing karate. Dzhabrailov himself stated that he did not remember where or when it was taken.
The former senator was found in critical condition at night in Moscow, in apartments on Tverskaya Street; a Luger pistol was nearby.
He did not leave a suicide note before committing suicide.
Dzhabrailov was 68 years old. He was a member of «United Russia» until 2017. On December 5, 2017, Dzhabrailov was expelled from the party «in accordance with the party's charter for actions discrediting the party and harming its political interests». In June 2017, he was detained for hooliganism. In August 2017, he opened fire with an award pistol in his room. In 2020, he had already attempted suicide.
Reportedly, he will be buried tomorrow in Chechnya.
