During a visit to Mir Castle, Yuri Karayeu, chairman of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee, expressed the idea of conducting large-scale historical reconstructions of castle sieges from different eras. Among other things, he proposed showing a Mongol-Tatar attack using ladders, bows, and other attributes to create a spectacular show for viewers.

"I have long dreamed of doing a reconstruction of a castle siege with assault ladders, with Mongol-Tatars shooting into the loopholes with bows and arrows. In the XIV century, we show you a reconstruction of the siege of this castle. We show it for 20 minutes. And 200 years later, the Teutonic Order of knights attacked," Yuri Karayeu said.
He noted that similar short reconstructions are already being held, but he would like to make a larger and more detailed show.

This idea, however, raises many questions and criticisms among people. Commentators on the news primarily point out that such events require significant financial expenditure. Some wonder whose expense such a reconstruction would be held at.
Others note that the country has more pressing issues that require attention and resources — for example, a lack of affordable housing, problems with medical facilities in small towns, the state of infrastructure, street lighting, and other everyday issues. Against this backdrop, the idea of a historical show seemed inappropriate or secondary to some.
There are also opinions that this is more of a personal initiative of the official, which does not necessarily align with the real needs of the people.
Most importantly, the very possibility of a Mongol-Tatar siege of Mir Castle contradicts historical realities.
Karayeu is unaware that the Renaissance castle in Mir was built at the beginning of the 16th century. And the Tatars and Crusaders were defeated by the Grand Duchy of Lithuania a hundred years earlier, at the Battle of Blue Waters and Grunwald. That is why it became possible to build castles like Mir Castle, as the military threat had been eliminated.
