Trump wants to build a 76-meter triumphal arch in Washington

According to the American leader, the "Trump Arch" will be "the greatest and most beautiful triumphal arch in the world."

The White House has published a design for a 76-meter arch that President Trump wants to build in the US capital.

Trump stated that his administration has submitted plans for the arch's construction to the Commission of Fine Arts — a group that includes his allies — which will consider the proposal next week.

According to the American leader, the "Trump Arch" will be "the greatest and most beautiful triumphal arch in the world."

"This will be a wonderful addition to the Washington area that all Americans will be able to enjoy for decades to come!"

The BBC notes that if the project is approved, the monument will be taller than the Capitol building and the Lincoln Memorial.

76 meters is a reference to the year of the Declaration of Independence of the USA — 1776. This year marks the 250th anniversary of US independence.
