Nicholson is 28 years old. He was born in Kingston, the capital of Jamaica. He began his professional career in his homeland, after which he moved to Europe. Nicholson has played 62 matches for the Jamaican national team and scored 11 goals. Currently, the national team is playing in the playoffs for World Cup qualification and is contending for a spot in the tournament. On March 27, the first semi-final playoff match against New Caledonia will take place. In case of victory, they will play against the national team of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final.
According to the statistical portal Transfermarkt, he immediately became the most expensive footballer in the championship. His transfer value is estimated at 3.2 million euros. For comparison, last year's best player in Belarus, Valery Gromyko, who moved to "ML Vitebsk" from Kazakhstan's "Kairat", is valued at 1.5 million.
The owner of the Vitebsk club, Artsiom Liavonau, in an interview with Onliner.by said how much Shamar Nicholson will receive in the team.
"A few weeks ago, the player's agent called me and offered Shamar's services. We didn't object and agreed on the terms. They are very favorable for us. 90% of the salary will be covered by 'Tijuana', with whom Nicholson has an active contract. We will pay an additional around 10 thousand dollars per month. In 'Tijuana', his salary is around 100 thousand," he said.
