«Minskzelenbud» criticized for planting trees in frozen ground. They responded
A video appeared on social media showing workers planting trees in Minsk on March 5. The woman who filmed the video ironically commented on the process, noting that the ground had recently been under snow and might still be frozen. She also pointed out that the workers were digging holes without special equipment, only by hand, noted the agency «Minsk-News».

The video quickly spread online and garnered tens of thousands of views. In the comments, some people criticized such early planting, believing that the weather was not yet suitable and the trees might not take root. Other users noted that plants can indeed be planted when their root system is dormant.
Trees, bushes, flowers, trees, bushes, flowers. Since March 5, Minskzelenstroy has been planting flowers on cold ground... How will they take root?
In response to criticism, «Minskzelenbud» explained that the best time for planting trees and shrubs is spring and autumn, when plants are in a natural state of dormancy. For many deciduous species, spring planting is even considered the most suitable, as it allows trees to take root better. It is usually carried out after the soil thaws, but before the buds begin to swell. This period typically lasts about two to three weeks.
Specialists also noted that coniferous and deciduous trees can be transplanted even in winter if they are dug up with a clump of earth. Work is allowed at air temperatures not lower than –15 °C.
Before planting, the spot for the tree is prepared in advance: a layer of soft soil is made in the pit, on which the plant is placed. The tree itself is positioned so that the root collar is slightly above the ground level — approximately 3–6 centimeters, taking into account further soil settling.
