US President Donald Trump threatens to blow up the South Pars gas field if Iran attacks Qatar.
Trump published a long post on his Truth Social platform about an attack on the Iranian South Pars gas field. He writes that the US "knew nothing" about the Israeli attack, but if Iran strikes back at Qatar again, Washington will escalate.
According to Trump, Israel hit the field "out of anger" and struck "a relatively small part of the entire facility." Then Iran, which "didn't know this," in response attacked Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Ras Laffan, which, according to the US president, was "unjustified and unfair."
Israel will no longer attack South Pars, Trump promises, calling the field "extremely important and valuable."
But if Iran attacks Qatar, then the US will "blow up" this field "with a force Iran has never seen."
Trump added that he does not want to allow "this level of violence and destruction because of the long-term consequences" for Iran, "but if Qatar's LNG is attacked again, he will do it without hesitation."
