The modernization of the observatory at the capital's planetarium in Gorky Park continues. In December, the old dome was dismantled from the building and the strengthening of supporting columns began, and now a new aluminum dome has been delivered to the site. Details were reported by "Minskstroy".

The structure was manufactured in Moscow and delivered to Minsk disassembled. After assembly, the dome, equipped with an electric drive and 360° opening flaps, will be installed on the building. Currently, builders are forming the concrete base for its installation.

In parallel, plastering work and the installation of the external staircase are underway at the site. Inside the building, the dismantling of old partitions and the roof has already been completed.
After replanning, the observatory will have an expanded foyer, and all technical equipment will be moved to the basement.

The project includes a complete renewal of the "filling": the planetarium will replace the screen, acoustics, and projection system. New chairs with reclining backrests will be installed for viewers. Despite the deep modernization, the architectural image of the building is promised to be preserved — from the scaly roof covering to the authentic spelling of the "Planetarium" sign.
