“Real thugs.” Lukashenka spoke about the operation to detain smugglers at the border
Lukashenka commented on the situation with smuggled weather balloons, which, against the backdrop of strained relations between official Minsk and Vilnius, have often flown into Lithuania. Vilnius Airport has been closed more than once for this reason.

Alexander Lukashenka told journalists about an operation to detain perpetrators who were allegedly engaged in illegal delivery of cigarettes abroad, writes BelTA.
“Minister Kubrakov reported to me on the completion of the operation. They detained five of our Belarusian smugglers right at the border. Our people rented an empty house – bought it from some relatives, paid some pennies.
In this house – packs of cigarettes, a cylinder for refilling, probes… Everything for transfer. The police detained them. Bandits, they had been convicted more than once. Real thugs,” Alexander Lukashenka said.
He stated that weather balloons are unlikely to paralyze the work of airports.
“The plane took off, cleanly took off. It’s clear that there are no balloons on the runway. It took off, and it's high — 10-11 km. And balloons don't fly there,” he said.
