The USA plans to release a commemorative gold coin featuring Donald Trump. The decision was unanimously supported by the Federal Commission of Fine Arts, writes the BBC Russian Service.

The coin will be 24-karat and timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the USA, which will be celebrated on July 4. On it, Trump is depicted leaning on a table with his fists. The sketch was prepared by the country's Mint.
Normally, American law prohibits placing images of a sitting president on money. However, in this case, a special exception will be used: the Secretary of the Treasury has the right to issue so-called experimental gold coins and determine their design himself.
It is expected that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will order the coin to be minted as soon as the U.S. Mint determines its final dimensions. It is proposed to make it large — significantly larger than ordinary coins.
"I propose to approve this [coin] without changes, and I strongly recommend making it as large as possible — up to three inches in diameter," said Deputy Chairman of the Commission James McCrery.
Earlier, Trump changed the composition of the Federal Commission of Fine Arts, appointing his supporters to it. Although a law banning such decisions was proposed in Congress, it was not adopted.
To date, only one U.S. president has appeared on a coin during his lifetime — Calvin Coolidge, who governed the country from 1923-1929.
