In two weeks, Belarusians will have four consecutive days off, or still three? What's the catch?
April 21 (Tuesday) will be Radunitsa, and the working day from April 20 has been moved to Saturday, April 25.
It seemed that Belarusians would have four consecutive days off: from April 18 to 21. But there's a nuance.
The thing is that an all-republican subbotnik (voluntary unpaid work day) has been announced for April 18, participation in which is voluntarily-compulsory for the working and especially state-funded people.
"Money earned from the spring subbotnik will be directed towards creating a permanent exhibition of the National Historical Museum of Belarus, which is currently under construction, and other related works," the government press service reported.
Therefore, it turns out that those who work at state enterprises will, in fact, only have three days off: from Sunday to Tuesday.
The next long weekend will be from May 1 to May 3 (Friday – Sunday). May 9 this year falls on a Saturday.
