The aircraft in question is an A-10 Warthog attack aircraft, which crashed near the Strait of Hormuz. According to American officials, its pilot was rescued and was unharmed.
It is noted that this incident occurred at approximately the same time when another American aircraft — an F-15E Strike Eagle — was shot down over Iran.
The exact causes of the A-10 crash are not yet disclosed, and details about the incident are scarce. There were also reports that a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter might have been damaged during the rescue operation, but its crew, according to preliminary data, remained safe.
It was previously reported that for the first time since the start of the conflict, Iranian forces managed to shoot down an American F-15E fighter jet. One of its crew members was rescued, while the fate of the second is not yet precisely known — there are reports that he might have been captured.
