Ukraine proposed to Europe to jointly develop an alternative to Patriot
Ukraine has proposed to European countries to jointly develop a new air defense system that should become a cheaper alternative to the American Patriot. The initiative comes from the Ukrainian company Fire Point, which already produces drones and missiles.

Fire Point representatives are negotiating with European partners to launch the new air defense system by approximately 2027. This was stated by the co-founder and chief engineer of the company, Denis Shtyylerman, to Reuters.
The main goal of the project is to significantly reduce the cost of intercepting air targets. Currently, one missile for the Patriot complex costs millions of dollars, and often several such missiles are needed to destroy a single target. The Ukrainian side wants to bring the cost down to less than 1 million dollars per interception, which could be a serious breakthrough.
For this, cooperation with European companies in the field of radars, guidance, and communication is planned. Possible partners include Danish company Weibel Scientific, Dutch Hensoldt, Swedish Saab, and French Thales Group.
In parallel, the company is developing its own production: a plant for missile fuel production is being prepared for launch in Denmark.
Experts note that the project is very ambitious and will be difficult to implement in such a short timeframe. However, the global demand for cheaper air defense systems is high, so even a less effective but inexpensive alternative could be in demand.
In addition to air defense, the company is also working on new missiles and drones, which are already being used in the war and may be exported in the future.
