The first large album of Easter chants in the native language has appeared online. Listen.
On the eve of Easter, the Belarusian Orthodox community of St. Gregory Peradze Chapel in Warsaw did what previously seemed impossible: released a full liturgical album "Orthodox Easter" in their native language.
In times when the right to national identity has to be defended daily, this project by the "Belarusian Chapel Choir" becomes a true manifesto of living culture, writes Reform.news.
The album, already available on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, contains 36 tracks. This is the result of deep research: musicians did not just translate the texts, but turned to Belarusian historical irmologia — ancient musical collections — to restore the divine service's original national character.
Now the community plans to go further and, by 2027, publish musical collections of liturgies, which will be made publicly available to all parishes.
For this large-scale work to continue, a fundraising campaign has been launched on the platform zrzutka.pl. The project can also be supported in person: at the Warsaw chapel on Lelechowska Street 5, a commemorative postcard with a QR code, which provides access to the entire musical treasure, is offered for a donation.
