A zander fishing ban is being introduced in Belarus from April 15. This was announced by the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Wildlife and Vegetation.

The restriction will be in effect from April 15 to May 30 and has been introduced to preserve the zander population and create favorable conditions for its reproduction in the country's reservoirs.
During this period, zander fishing is completely prohibited. If a fish is caught in a net or on a hook, it must be released back into the water.
Administrative liability is provided for violating the ban: a fine of 10 to 30 base units (one base unit is 45 rubles), as well as additional compensation — 18 base units for each illegally caught fish.
If the damage to nature exceeds 100 base units, criminal liability may also apply.
The inspectorate also urges citizens to report violations to the relevant authorities or via hotlines.
