The fourth line of the Minsk Metro will be extended to Drazhnia. "Slyapianka" and "Daŭhabrodskaja" stations have changed their locations
The eastern part of the fourth circular line has been decided to be pulled further away from the center into an industrial zone, changing the location of several stations and transfer hubs at once. There is also still no certainty about the number of stations on the line.
New outlines of Minsk's transport future became known thanks to a report by the state TV channel ONT, dedicated to the work of tunnel boring machines, as the blizko.by portal noted. The report featured fresh subway development schemes from the offices of the "Minskmetraprojekt" institute. From these, it follows that the previous route of the fourth line has changed — the metro tunnels will make a sharp turn to the east.
New route of the eastern semi-circle
Until recently, it was planned that after the "Botanichny Sad" (Botanical Garden) station, trains would go to the Sixth Clinical Hospital to the "Uralskaya" station, at the intersection of Uralskaya and Frolikova streets, and from there would head to the "Daŭhabrodskaja" station, where a transfer to the "Traktarny Zavod" (Tractor Plant) station of the Autazavodskaya line was planned.
However, the route of the eastern semi-circle is now significantly changing. After "Botanichny Sad" (Botanical Garden), the line turns east, to Zaporozhskaya Square at the intersection of Filimonov, Stoletov, and Zaporozhskaya streets, where the "Slyapianka" station will be located.
Further, the tunnels will pass under Radialnaya Street, where a new station "Drazhnia" will appear in the industrial zone at the intersection with Vaŭpshasava Street.
After this, the route of the fourth line will continue under Radialnaya Street to the intersection with Pyarakhodnaya Street and, in line with Zhylunovich Street, along the edge of the Minsk Bearing Plant, will reach the "Daŭhabrodskaja" station on Partizanski Prospekt, which will now become a transfer station with "Partizanskaya" station, and not with "Traktarny Zavod" (Tractor Plant) station, as previously projected.
Why the fourth line was changed
It is possible that these changes in the eastern semi-circle are related to the planned construction of the Zialiony Bor (Green Pine Forest) microdistrict to the east of the Minsk Ring Road, the total development area of which will exceed one million square meters.
Vaŭpshasava Street will become the main transport artery for this area, so the metro is being brought as close as possible to future residents.
At the same time, the new documentation states 18 (17) stations for the fourth line, which does not match what is drawn on the scheme. Initially, 17 stops were planned on the ring. When "Kievski Skver" and "Politekhnichnaya" were excluded from the project at the beginning of the year, fifteen remained. Now "Drazhnia" has been added — only 16 stops are shown on the presented new schemes.
As for other promising areas, the extension of the first and second lines is maintained only in the direction of Yel'nitsa and Shchomyslitsa, respectively. The extension of the metro to Dzyahtsiyaroŭka or Paŭnochny Bereh (North Shore), where four and a half million square meters of housing are planned to be built, is still not provided for by the project.
