The Ministry of Culture announced the death of the renowned Belarusian film director, Honored Artist of Belarus, and laureate of the USSR State Prize, Vyacheslav Nikiforov. He was 83 years old.
Vyacheslav Nikiforov
Vyacheslav Nikiforov was born on August 13, 1942, in the village of Vesyoloye, Adler District, Krasnodar Krai.
From 1957 to 1959, he studied at the evening theater and drama studio at the Republican Russian Theater in Ulan-Ude. In 1969, he graduated from the directing faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK).
From 1959 to 1963, he was an actor in theaters in Abakan and Ryazan, after which he moved to Minsk. He worked as a director at the "Belarusfilm" studio and also collaborated with Russian film studios.
He worked in cinema since 1968. From 1986 to 1994, he was the First Secretary of the Board, Chairman, and Co-chairman of the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
During his career, he directed about 30 films and TV series. Among his most famous works are "Kingfisher" (Zimarodak), "Fruza", "Fathers and Sons" (Batski i Dzietsi), "State Border" (Dzyarzhaŭnaya Myazha), "The Noble Robber Vladimir Dubrovsky" (Vysakanobny Razboinik Uladzimir Dubrouski), and others.
