Earlier, Fico himself stated that he intended to visit Moscow on May 9 to lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin Wall. At the same time, he claimed that he would allegedly not participate in the parade itself.
In 2026, the military parade in Moscow is planned to be held without military equipment. Russian authorities explain this by the current situation and enhanced security measures.
According to Kremlin representatives, the format of the celebration was decided to be made more modest to avoid possible incidents during official events.
