Lenin Monument on Independence Square in Minsk Was Washed So It Became Completely Black PHOTOS
In Minsk, on Independence Square, during the month of beautification, the Lenin monument was washed and cleaned. City service workers spent about two hours treating the monument with a special solution and carefully wiping it, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency. The result may surprise you.

After cleaning, the monument changed its usual dull gray color to a rich black and began to shine in the sun.

The lower part of the pedestal and the steps were not cleaned as part of this work.

The Lenin monument on Independence Square was unveiled in 1933. It was created by architect Iosif Langbard and sculptor Matvey Manizer.

During World War II, the sculpture was destroyed by German troops, but after the war, it was restored anew. Since then, the monument has invariably stood in its place, and even during the brief democratic period of the early 1990s, no one dared to remove it, although the question was attempted to be raised.
