Kohl said that the topic of opening a U.S. embassy in Minsk is currently being discussed. He noted that all these issues are on the agenda and expressed optimism regarding their implementation.
According to the American representative, Lukashenka wants Belarus to become part of the European family of nations. He believes that the release of political prisoners could help Minsk move in this direction.
"As long as we trust each other, and... if one feels that the other has gone off course, we will fix it," Kohl described his personal relationship with Lukashenka.
Kohl also reported that he plans to visit Belarus in two to three weeks and hopes that some political prisoners will be released within a month.
During a previous meeting with Kohl on March 19, Lukashenka said that Donald Trump allegedly invited him to his residence in Florida to discuss a "big deal."
