Belarus is considering introducing a limit on the number of bank cards one person can have. This was announced by Alexander Yegorov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, at the "Digital Banking — 2026" conference, writes Sputnik.

According to Alexander Yegorov, such measures will primarily target not ordinary customers, but so-called "drops" — people used by fraudsters to transfer, withdraw, or send stolen money. The plan is to implement this in a way that most citizens will hardly feel these restrictions.
When developing approaches, foreign experience is also taken into account, including the Russian law against similar schemes, but Belarus does not want to introduce the harshest measures, striving to maintain a balance between security and the normal functioning of the economy.
"Drops" are straw persons whose accounts receive illegal money. They withdraw these funds or forward them further, thereby becoming part of fraudulent schemes.
