The US President urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to launch only precise strikes on Lebanon. He told this in an interview with Axios.
"I told Netanyahu that he must act more precisely. Not destroy buildings. He cannot do that. It is too terrible and casts Israel in a bad light," Trump said.
He emphasized that he likes Lebanon and the country's leadership.
The American leader also believes that the country can "return to life" after the end of the operation against Iran. "Iran destroyed Lebanon. Their proxy [Hezbollah] destroyed Lebanon. If Iran is defeated, Hezbollah will automatically be defeated," Trump stressed.
An American official clarified in a conversation with the publication that the Donald Trump administration asked Israel to "exercise restraint" and allow for a new diplomatic process with Lebanon.
