Atletico fans threw rolls of paper onto the field. This is how the fans highlighted Atletico's ties with Argentina, writes sports.ru.
A rain of toilet paper is not often seen in Europe. However, this gesture of support is widespread throughout Argentina.
The ultras of the Madrid club "Frente Atletico" called on fans to come to the stadium earlier to support the team and throw rolls of toilet paper.
Atletico's ties with Argentina are now stronger than ever: legendary Diego Simeone coaches here, his son Giuliano plays, and the club's top scorer Julián Álvarez is the 2022 World Champion.

So there you have it. Fans of "Quilmes Atlético Club" have long used mass throws of toilet paper. This performance was particularly memorable at the 1978 FIFA World Cup in Buenos Aires.
In 1961, Quilmes fans scattered 210 thousand beer labels — with such "gifts" they arrived at their main rival Banfield. The beer was named after the city of Quilmes — where it was first brewed. Thanks to the ingenuity of one of the fans, they managed to get three thousand already discarded old labels in sacks from the brewery.
The press harshly criticized this performance: they believed that fans were littering the field, and the Argentine Football Association even fined the brewery for hidden advertising during the scattering of labels.
The brewers saw this as a chance for promotion: they paid the fines and continued to do so. At the Quilmes — San Lorenzo match in 1962, their labels were already being thrown from four stands of the local stadium.
For Argentine fans, this was not just a promotional stunt. Fans from other cities added a lot of toilet paper to the labels — gradually, this also became a tradition.
Atletico recalled this story.
The first semi-final ended with a score of 1:1. The return leg is in a week in London.
In the second semi-final, PSG and Bayern are playing. PSG won the first match in Paris 5:4.
