Pavlo Talankin's Lost Oscar Statuette Found After Flight from New York to Frankfurt
The award, received for a documentary film about the influence of propaganda on teenagers in the Chelyabinsk region, disappeared after American security services forced the director to check it as baggage.

Lufthansa airline found the golden statuette at Frankfurt am Main airport, writes Deutsche Welle.
The airline's press service officially confirmed that Pavlo Talankin's Oscar statuette is safe in Germany. The carrier has already apologized to the director and is now clarifying whether he is still in Frankfurt to arrange the transfer of the award.
In parallel, the company is conducting an internal investigation to understand how the valuable cargo was lost during transportation.
The story of the disappearing statuette occurred on April 29 during Talankin's flight from New York. Before departure from John F. Kennedy Airport, US security personnel deemed the "Oscar" a potentially dangerous item and demanded it be sent to the baggage compartment, after which contact with the award was lost. This incident caused a wave of indignation among filmmakers and the public.
Pavlo Talankin received the Academy Award for the film "Mr. Nobody vs. Putin," which is based on unique footage from one of the schools in the Chelyabinsk region. The director, who left Russia in 2024, showed exactly how the attitudes of the young generation of Russians were formed within school walls.
