Pavel Talankin's "Oscar" Statuette Lost During Flight from New York to Frankfurt

During a flight from New York to Frankfurt am Main, the "Oscar" statuette that Russian videographer Pavel Talankin received for the documentary film "Mr. Nobody vs. Putin" was lost, according to co-director David Barenstein.

According to him, on April 29, Talankin arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and was going to fly to Europe, intending to carry the "Oscar" statuette in his hand luggage. At the airport, a transport security officer did not allow him to bring the statuette on board the plane, considering that it could be used as a weapon, writes "Current Time".

Since Talankin did not have an additional bag to check the statuette as luggage, it was placed in a cardboard box and sent on the Lufthansa flight he was taking. However, the box with the statuette never arrived in Frankfurt.

"I searched, but found no other instance where someone was forced to check an 'Oscar' statuette as luggage. Would they have treated Pavel this way if he were a famous actor? Or if he spoke English fluently?" — noted Barenstein.

In his post, he appealed to Lufthansa to find the statuette. A few hours later, the airline responded in the comments to Barenstein's post, stating that they take such cases very seriously and are ready to help find the statuette.
