On May 21, during a working trip to Slavutych in the north of Kyiv region, near the border with Belarus, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recorded a video. In it, he warned the "de facto leadership of Belarus" that supporting Russia in its attempts to launch a new attack on Ukraine from the north would have consequences.

"We have the opportunity to strengthen our defense. We also have the opportunity to act preventively against Russian territory, from where threats may originate, and against the de facto leadership of Belarus, which must be kept on its toes — that is, clearly understand that there will be consequences if aggressive actions are committed against Ukraine, against our people.
We remember that in 2022 the offensive also came from the territory of Belarus. We will not forget that. The Defense Forces of Ukraine, Security Forces, and our special services know what the threats are and how to react — how to react fairly, without hesitation," Zelenskyy stated.
