Belarusian wanted to get rich in Norway, but only spent his own money
A resident of Minsk wanted to go to work in Norway as an oilman and earn good money there, but ended up becoming a victim of fraudsters. He even paid a supposed state duty for processing documents, but in reality, he transferred the money to scammers, writes the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
A 44-year-old resident of Minsk contacted the Frunzensky District Department of Internal Affairs after falling victim to a fraudulent scheme while searching for work abroad.
The man saw an online advertisement for an oilman vacancy in Norway. Following the link, he contacted a person who introduced himself as an employer's representative. The interlocutor described the working conditions in detail and convincingly explained how the necessary documents would be processed.
Later, the Minsk resident was sent a link through which he had to fill out a form with his personal data. After this, he was informed that a state duty needed to be paid for the processing of documents.
Believing the strangers, the man transferred over 3500 rubles to them in several payments.
When the fraudsters then started pressuring him and demanding further actions, the Minsk resident became suspicious and, on the advice of an acquaintance, decided to contact the police.
A criminal case has been initiated on the fact of fraud.
