In the Mogilev region, police detained a 24-year-old foreign national suspected of organizing an escort agency and participating in a human sexual exploitation scheme.
Employees of the Department for Combating Human Trafficking of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, together with colleagues from the central apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, prevented an attempt to take a Belarusian citizen abroad for sexual exploitation.
According to law enforcement, the detainee was one of the organizers of an online escort agency and operated, among other places, on the territory of Belarus. She recruited a 23-year-old resident of Mogilev, who was offered work in Western Europe with a high salary, good living conditions, and legal employment. In reality, the girl was planned to be forced into prostitution, but they did not manage to take her abroad.
During further investigation, it was found that the detainee might also be involved in other offenses. According to the investigation, she involved foreign citizens in prostitution, and also brought women to Belarus to work in the aforementioned escort agency.
Currently, the police are identifying all participants of the alleged criminal scheme, their roles and connections.
Investigators have opened a criminal case on the fact of organizing and using prostitution. For this crime, the law provides for punishment of up to 10 years of imprisonment. Investigative actions are being carried out against the detainee, and the question of choosing a measure of restraint for her is being decided.
