"Terrifying crackle and roar." At dawn, loud noises in the sky woke Homel
The sounds were not similar to the usual engine noise of Shaheds, "Flagstock" reports.

Homel residents are discussing on social media what happened on the morning of August 20 in the city's Central District.
According to user reports, around 05:25, they were woken by atypical very loud noises in the sky. Based on eyewitness descriptions, it can be assumed that the sound of a drone flying and an explosion, or the flight of a fighter jet, was recorded.
"A terrifying crackle and roar woke me up," "there was a sound, some wild crackle," "a roar sounded over the house," — this is how Homel residents describe what happened.
According to them, such sounds were heard by residents of houses on Kozhara Street in Stary Aerodrom, as well as in neighboring Valatava (17th, 18th microdistricts), in Staraia Valatava. Some users claim to have recognized the sound of a fighter jet flying.
It is notable that this night, the sound "like a moped," which has become common for the Homel region, was not recorded over the city — the characteristic noise of "Geran-136," the most common Russian-made attack UAV.
Precisely at this time, Russia's massive air attack on the territory of Ukraine continued. "Flagstock" analyzed reports from Ukrainian monitoring channels and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. No cases of UAV incursions into Belarusian territory were reported, but it is known that Russian jet drones moved along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border (from Dobrushsky to Brahin districts).
Another group of Russian jet drones moved along the border from approximately 4 to 5 AM. Also at this time, missiles flew towards Kyiv and Boryspil from the north and east.
Ukraine also launched UAVs towards Russian territory, but this happened much earlier — around 11:00 PM on August 19.
Perhaps this morning, Homel residents witnessed an attempt to shoot down a jet UAV over the city — successful or unsuccessful.
