In Kyiv, an agent of Russian and Belarusian special services sentenced to 15 years
A Kyiv resident collected information about the energy facilities of the Ukrainian capital and transmitted it to Russia through Belarusian border guards.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced the sentencing of a Ukrainian citizen, a resident of Kyiv, for cooperation with the special services of Russia and Belarus, writes Radio Svoboda.
He was sentenced for state treason to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
«Prosecutors proved that the man cooperated with representatives of Belarusian and Russian special services and transmitted intelligence information about the locations of defense forces and critical infrastructure objects in Kyiv», — states the official report.
Background
The Ukrainian citizen was detained on December 29, 2025, after he managed to transmit the coordinates of a unit guarding one of the thermal power plants (CHPP) in Kyiv, and after a Russian strike, informed his handler about its consequences.

«You didn't hit the cooling tower at all. But the raid was significant. Thank God, we survived. [Coordinates] Here's the cooling tower. And where they (the guards) crawl underground, I don't see, I need to climb over the fence, they might kill me, there are guards there. I'll find out, I'll send it. [...] Work, brothers. We will help as much as we can. And hold on, Russia is also having a tough time there», — the man wrote after the Russian shelling of Kyiv on October 25, 2025.
According to the investigation, he began cooperating with the special services of Belarus and Russia in May 2025, and in October of the same year, he began to carry out their tasks.
He transmitted all information to a «person from the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus», who allegedly administered and ensured the functioning of the Telegram bot of the Belarusian border service.
The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine claims that for carrying out the tasks, the man was counting on «evacuation» from Ukraine, and by the time of his detention, he had managed to pack a tactical backpack with all necessary items for illegal border crossing.
Last year, on October 25, one of Kyiv's thermal power plants (CHPPs) was indeed damaged by Russian shelling, and a number of Russian media reported its complete destruction.
