International Sports Press Association names ten best World Cup footballers

472 journalists from 121 countries participated in the voting.

Argentina national team captain Lionel Messi was named the best footballer of the 2026 World Cup according to the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), writes Championat.com.

According to the results, the 39-year-old Argentine scored 1179 points. Messi finished the tournament with eight goals and was second in the list of top scorers of the world championship.

Second place was taken by Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, who received 717 points. The forward scored 10 goals and became the top scorer of the tournament.

Third was England national team midfielder Jude Bellingham, with 470 points.

Fourth place was taken by Erling Haaland from the Norway national team (460), fifth by Spaniard Lamine Yamal (304).

Recognized as the best player of the tournament, Rodri from Spain was in sixth place (285), and Cape Verde national team goalkeeper Vozinha was in seventh (189).

The top ten is rounded out by Englishman Harry Kane (130), Spaniard Mikel Oyarzabal (118), and Frenchman Michael Olise (91).
