Phased renovation of the Sviapianka water system has begun in the capital. The General Director of UP "Minskzelenbud" Aliaksandr Yarmalovich spoke about the progress of the work, Minsk-Novosti reports.
The construction of this unique water system for Minsk was carried out in the 1970s and 1980s. Over the decades, many of its facilities fell into disrepair and required renovation.
— We maintain both the embankment and water features, such as cascades, in proper condition. But given the age of this territory, not only current repairs but also more large-scale intervention is necessary, — explained A. Yarmalovich.
According to the General Director, the improvement of the facility will proceed in several stages. This year, it affected Zavodski, Leninski, Partyzanski, and Pershamaiski districts.
— A bicycle path is being built, areas are being landscaped, and children's sports equipment is being installed. Quite interesting new locations and routes will appear there, — commented the head of "Minskzelenbud".
Concurrently, cleaning is being carried out — vegetation is removed from the water surface using special harvesters, the General Director clarified.
